“From the crash to the cause”

At 41 miles per hour, midway through a 100-mile race, a car that had missed the course signs struck Noah Hofman from behind. He woke in a hospital with a concussion and multiple fractures — and a thought that wouldn't leave: this will keep happening unless something changes. Most people would have called the crash a setback to survive. Noah turned it into Cycle Safety Champions, a youth bike-safety platform spanning a curriculum, workshops, an Amazon-published workbook and an app that became a Congressional App Challenge finalist — together reaching more than 15,000 kids, with STEM sessions at Discovery Cube Orange County extending that reach further. He's since channeled the same problem-to-product instinct — sharpened years earlier on his school's FIRST Robotics team — into Clear View, a patent-pending heated anti-fog system for goggles that placed in the top 2% of the Blue Ocean competition. A four-time US national bronze medalist racing on a junior professional team, Dragon Kim Fellow, and Youth in Policy Fellow, Noah measures progress less by his own speed now than by what he can build to keep other riders safe.
