Terms of Use
Last updated: October 23, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and GiftedTalented LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("GiftedTalented", "we", "us"), which operates the 20 Under 20 program, 20under20.org, its nomination and champion forms, and related communications (the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (/privacy).
PLEASE READ SECTION 17. IT REQUIRES MOST DISPUTES TO BE RESOLVED BY INDIVIDUAL BINDING ARBITRATION AND WAIVES CLASS ACTIONS AND JURY TRIALS. YOU MAY OPT OUT WITHIN 30 DAYS.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 to use the Services. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian who allows a minor to use the Services, or who signs a release for a minor, agrees to these Terms on the minor's behalf and is responsible for the minor's use.
To be considered for a 20 Under 20 class, a nominee must be under 20 years old on December 31 of the year in which they are nominated, and must meet any other criteria we publish.
2. The program
Editorial judgment. 20 Under 20 is an editorial recognition program. Who is selected, how many people are named, which category each is placed in, and what each feature says are matters of our editorial judgment and opinion. Nobody has a right to be nominated, selected, featured or kept on the site. We do not have to explain our decisions. A class is not a ranking, and names are not listed in order of merit.
No pay to play. No one can pay to be nominated, selected or featured. Any offer to do so will be refused and may disqualify the nominee.
Revocation. We may decline to publish, edit, remove or revoke any recognition at any time. This includes when information turns out to be inaccurate, when eligibility was not met, when a release is withdrawn, or when we decide in good faith that continued recognition would harm the program, a young person or the public. If recognition is revoked, the Changemaker must stop describing themselves as a current Changemaker.
Media releases. Every Changemaker signs a media release before publication. If the release and these Terms conflict regarding that Changemaker's feature, the release controls.
3. Accuracy and verification
Features are written from information supplied by nominators and Changemakers, interviews, and the checks we choose to make. We take reasonable care, but we do not guarantee that every statement is complete, accurate or current. Achievements, affiliations, publications, patents, funding and other claims are presented as reported to us and approved by the Changemaker. Recognition does not certify any credential.
If you see an error, write to privacy@giftedtalented.com and we will review it and correct it if we agree.
4. Nominations and submissions
When you submit a nomination, self-nomination, interview answer, photograph, video, champion message or any other material ("Submissions"), you promise that:
- the information is true and not misleading, to the best of your knowledge;
- you have the right to share it, including any information about another person, and, for a person under 18, the knowledge of that person's parent or guardian where the law requires it;
- it does not infringe anyone's copyright, privacy, publicity or other rights;
- it is not defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, hateful or unlawful.
You may not nominate someone to embarrass, harass or deceive them. We may contact a nominee, and their parent or guardian, about a nomination.
5. License to Submissions
You keep ownership of your Submissions. You grant GiftedTalented and its affiliates a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, translate, publish, display and distribute your Submissions, in any media now known or later developed, to operate, promote and archive the 20 Under 20 program and the GiftedTalented Network. To the extent the law allows, you waive any moral rights in Submissions as used under this license. No compensation is owed for this license.
This license is subject to three limits. First, the signed media release controls how a Changemaker's name, image and feature are used. Second, we will honor removal requests as described in Section 9 of our Privacy Policy. Third, we will not use features or nomination content about anyone under 18 to train artificial intelligence models without a parent's or guardian's opt-in.
Features, headlines, highlights, editorial text, design and photographs we commission are owned by GiftedTalented. Changemakers may share their own feature and link to it, as Section 7 describes.
6. Champions
Champion buttons may take you to GiftedTalented.com or to a form we operate. Championing is a way to show support. It is not a purchase, donation or investment. Any interaction between a champion and a Changemaker, including mentoring or introductions, happens at the discretion and risk of those involved. Use of GiftedTalented.com is governed by its own terms. Adults may not use the Services to seek private contact with a minor. We may remove any champion message and report conduct that concerns us.
7. Use of the 20 Under 20 name and badge
"GT 20 Under 20", "Global Changemakers", the GT Equation™, our logos, badges and site design are owned by GiftedTalented. A Changemaker may truthfully say "Named to the GT 20 Under 20 Global Changemakers, Class of 2026", link to their feature, and share it on their personal profiles, applications and resumes. You may not use our name, logos or badges in advertising, fundraising, product packaging or investor materials, or in any way that suggests GiftedTalented endorses a company, product, school or person, without our written permission.
8. No endorsement
Recognition celebrates a young person's work as we understand it. It is not an endorsement, investment recommendation or guarantee of any Changemaker's company, product, research, nonprofit, fundraising or future conduct. We are not responsible for any decision you make based on a feature, including any decision to invest, donate, hire, admit or partner.
9. Acceptable use
You may not: scrape, copy or harvest content or personal information from the Services by automated means, except for search engine indexing allowed by robots.txt; use the Services or their content to train artificial intelligence models; contact, track, harass or profile any Changemaker, especially a minor; reproduce features in full without permission (quoting with a link is fine); impersonate anyone; interfere with the security or operation of the Services; or use the Services for anything unlawful.
10. Our content
The Services and their content are owned by GiftedTalented or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to view and share the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes.
11. Third-party sites
Features link to LinkedIn, Changemakers' own websites and other services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices.
12. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, send a notice to privacy@giftedtalented.com with: your contact details; the work you claim is infringed; the URL of the material; a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GIFTEDTALENTED DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. RECOGNITION DOES NOT GUARANTEE ANY ADMISSION, AWARD, EMPLOYMENT, FUNDING OR OTHER OUTCOME.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GIFTEDTALENTED AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, EDITORS, VOLUNTEERS, AFFILIATES AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, OPPORTUNITIES, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE SERVICES, ANY SELECTION OR NON-SELECTION, ANY FEATURE, OR ANY CONDUCT OF A CHAMPION, NOMINATOR, CHANGEMAKER OR OTHER THIRD PARTY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICES IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.
15. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify and hold harmless GiftedTalented and the people listed in Section 14 from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your Submissions, including any inaccurate information you supplied or information about another person you had no right to share; your violation of these Terms; or your violation of any law or third-party right. This section does not require a minor to indemnify us where local law does not allow it.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access to the Services, refuse a nomination, or remove a Submission at any time for any lawful reason. Sections 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 13 to 19 survive termination.
17. Dispute resolution and arbitration
Informal resolution first. Before starting any claim, you agree to email privacy@giftedtalented.com with a description of the dispute and to negotiate in good faith for 60 days.
Binding individual arbitration. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be decided by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, held remotely or in Delaware. Judgment may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Class action and jury waiver. You and GiftedTalented may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative proceeding. You and GiftedTalented waive any right to a jury trial.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, or seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement, unauthorized access, scraping, or harm to a minor's safety or privacy.
Opt-out. You may opt out of this Section 17 by emailing privacy@giftedtalented.com, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out", within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
Consumers outside the United States. If you live in the EU, UK or another country whose law gives you a non-waivable right to bring claims in your local courts or under local consumer law, this Section 17 does not take that right away.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local law requires otherwise. Disputes that are not arbitrated go exclusively to the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
19. General
We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new date. Continued use after the update means you accept it. Material changes affecting a Changemaker's published feature will not override their signed release. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. We may assign these Terms, including in a merger, acquisition or sale. You may not assign them without our consent. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and any signed release are the entire agreement about the Services.
